Re: Why dont food courts have napkins?

In addition to a few napkins, I always traveled with a baggie full of Lysol wipes in my purse. That way I could somewhat clean the table before I sat down. After witnessing time and again the local habit of spitting chicken bones directly onto the table, I figured Lysol wipes were the least I could ...

Re: NFL in Singapore

You're probably better off getting the NFL package online. The beauty of it is they lose all commercials, so you can watch the whole game in about 40 minutes!!!!

Re: Top 5 reasons to move to Singapore

Travel is a definite advantage, but you need to have a job that allows for vacation travel. In our case, my sig other traveled about 60-70% of the time throughout SEA for work (frequently away on weekends), so our travel time as a couple was limited. So that's something to keep in mind if you're pit...

Re: A Clockwork Orange

Thanks for sharing, JR8….I cannot believe this is even CLOSE to the uncut original movie….although maybe it is….I remember watching The Sopranos on HBO, and being amazed that the gahmen was fine with showing a complete episode where one of the prostitutes was VERY brutally (and graphically) murdered...

Re: No more public drinking and retail of alcohol post 10.30
It occurred to me the other day, as I watched an expat woman drunkenly negotiate a crossing, that the prevalence of expats with serious drinking problems is high here. The ones I have known or observed are generally women. I’m assuming this is not just Singapore but would be applicable to ot...

Re: dog obedience training
Thank you so much to everyone! [emoji4] The 'high risk' I refer is for the transit due to snub-nosed. So far, it seems only Lufthansa can do it but my doggy will have to go until Germany and then to Singapore..... [emoji53] We flew our cat via Lufthansa. Your dog will hav...

Re: Reality check before moving to Singapore

Regarding apartment rentals, I think you'll notice that rental rates are high, but they seem to be going down, and I think you'll find some wiggle room for further negotiations. Regarding your dog, please check the AVA site - they have a list of dogs that aren't welcome in Singapore, so that will be...

I don't know about you, but we're talking about Singapore here. Have you lived here? It's quite small, not a lot of people, and only a few universities. There is lots of cutting edge research that takes place only in a few places around the world, why would Singaporean schools try to replicate every...

Re: Moving to Singapore in 45-60 days!

Speaking of those little wet naps provided by restaurants….REALLY?? I learned very early on to always have a couple of packets in my handbag, and when we'd take visitors out for their chili crab dinner, I'd always bring along a roll of paper towels, because there was no way that one little wet nap w...

Re: Hairdresser recommendations - curly hair

Good luck with that one….I had my curly hair keratin straightened, and even with straight hair with absolutely NO style to it, my stylist was still unable to give me a cut without jagged edges and (once) a giant chunk taken out of it for some random reason. I just think stylists in Singapore (on ave...
