How old are they? what age is Grade 2? It is different from school to school. If your son/daughter is turning 7 next calendar year (Jan - Dec) then you are pretty much out of luck, all primary schools are full due to the kids being Golden Pigs (Chinese Zodiac, very lucky apparently) Otherwise, just...

Local school admission for Foreigners

Hi, We are from Australia and have been living in SG for a year now. Our child has been going to an international school, Grade-2 and we are now thinking of moving her to a local school as can't afford the fees any more... I understand there is a registration process followed by a screening test in ...

Can any one recommend some good reputed maid agencies

Hi, we recently moved here from Australia and now looking for a full time maid who can take care of the kids.

Can anyone recommend reputed maid agencies which they used in the past. I seen a few in lucky plaza but not too happy with the professionalism etc.

cheers

any expats in Toa Payoh?

Hi, We were considering condos in Toa Payoh- there aren't too many choices there as the area has mostly HDBs. Taking a walk around we realised it has a fairly large concentration of locals and HDBs. No doubt the amenities are good with buses, shops and MRTs. But we were just wondering if there are a...

New Mobile Connection, Landline, Cable and Broadband

Hi all Moving to Singapore soon , just wondering how do I go about getting 'connected. I browsed through Singtel and starhub sites. I dont mind signing a 24 mth contract since I'll be there for that long. However not sure if there are any great saves by bundling, ie get all 4 from the same provider....

Where do parents of SAIS pupils live ?

Hi, We are moving to Singapore in a few weeks time and managed to secure admission for our child in SAIS in KG. Trying to narrow down on the area to take up a condo. Budget around 4k, prefer a 3 bedder condo. Work in Marina Bay. Having spoken to the bus operator, typically 40-45 min ride is the max....

thanks all... we decided to go with SAIS...hopefully we will have a few more options to live along east coast. And yes, definitely agree with the 'downtime' in the bus. Its good for the kids to generally socialise after a day in school. So 30-40 min bus ride shouldn't be an issue :)

Thanks Zeenit. So you are saying fridge and washing machines are fairly standard in the condos. (which means I got to sell my stuff :( So if an apartment does not have them, then we can ask the owner to get them installed for us ? Yeah, I also heard that dishwashers are generally not installed and e...

Yeah, the EC is what I meant...I was told they are close to condos in terms of facilities and a bit cheaper to rent. My budget is around 4K mark. Looking for a 3 bedder. 3 bed + study would be even better. School is on the east coast so would prefer something close to school. Also after something wh...

Newish HDB with Condo-like facilities

Hi,
looking to move to Singapore next month. Rents are quite mad and condos are easily 5k a month for a 3 bedder.
Does anybody know good HDB apartments that have condo-like facilities on the east coast (preferably near MRT).

thanks

also spoke to One World. Looks like they are a very small school compared to the big ones- so might be good for our first grader- not sure if this is something others would consider. But I just thought they'd probably be a bit more responsive and give more attention. has anyone heard anything about ...

CIS Lakeside, Stamford American or OFS- Confused !!

Hi, moving from Sydney to Singapore in January. Have a 6 year old who starts grade 1 in January. Prefer IB as it is internationally acclaimed. Would have preferred AIS, but they have a wait list and heard its a bit laid back. Between CIS-lakeside , OFS and Stamford American- which one should I go fo...
