Re: Your one piece of wisdom...

You could actually request for less oil and/or salt on the food you're ordering if the labels are in the stall. What about MSG? How to ask for them not to put it in? Not really sure but think can do t...

Re: Your one piece of wisdom...

on-topic: Guess that one piece of advice I could give as a local is to get use to the abbreviations and incomplete sentences (ie, lunch? Yeah or Nope). off-topics: some of the comments here reminded me of the time I was in Aussie for a year many years' ago. I was really home sick at first. I remembe...

@x9200 It depends whether the person you asking could speak your language well. Not sure whether you're aware of this. One common traits of Singaporean are the "simply Bo chap" (sbc). A typical sbc would choose not to get involved in anything and everything if it is too troublesome. Trying to unders...

@Travailes, I meant 10cents per transaction. Well, at least ntuc is making the effort to encourage people to use recycle bags and I applauded them for that. =D> @amigo, The govt did tried to encourage people to conserve energy and use recycle bags and recycle the rubbish. But unfortunately, it takes...

Well, I used to work as a cashier in a supermarket as vacation job. I'll have to say, some customer are really very very particular about packaging. If you packed it wrongly (ie, wet and dry goods, fragile and non fragile, consumable and non consumable in a bag), you might get scolded by nasty custo...

Just to share with you folks regarding this topic. Most likely, the supermarket assistant does not understand your question, especially if you have a strong accent. A simple "no" would be the quickest way to get themselves off this embarass situation. Whenever I required assistant from sales person,...

for the public toilet issue, I'm not saying singaporean are without fault. I'm just saying it's unfair to push it all to the locals. with a ratio of 2:3, how could you justify these mess are created mainly by the locals? or are you saying foreigners doesn't visit the public toilets at all? I'm not ...

[ I remembered I was in one of those day tour in a foreign land. While the whole bus was waiting for this singaporean family, the ang moh driver told us to clap when they board the bus which we did. This did not really goes well with that family. They became angry and sulk for the rest of the day. ...

Bet they were on time after that. Sometimes, if you don't make a Singaporean "lose face" they will never change. The family refused to go down the bus since that stop... :( I can picture it in my mind... The poker faces, the declining to say anything, the resolute finality of the position. Silently...

Ankle, are you old enough to remember when GCT was the Prime Minister? In one of his speeches he even commented about the same thing. His take? If every Singaporean doesn't confront the litterbug or inconsiderate/rude Singaporean about their behaviour, then they are just as guilty as the person doi...
