This comment is just as stupid/simpleton as Trump's "fire and fury" comment.

Re: SURVEY: What remittance services do you use to send money out of Singapore?

You don't really need a "channel". All you need is for sender and receiver to have a Bitcoin wallet. You can then pass Bitcoins to and fro at will and at low cost. That said, Bitcoin is now about where internet was in 1998; the basics are there and it works, but there's a few roller coaster rides t...

Re: Singapore Retail Shopping in Danger

Even with excess (unlikely) it's cheaper and I can only find the type I want in the US. I can't remember what it was (probably some latest electronic stuff) but I wanted it badly. I purchased it on Amazon and paid duty and shipping (duty/tax automatically calculated by Amazon for over $400 SGD) and...

Re: Singapore Retail Shopping in Danger

Two stores where I spend money/time in Singapore are Uniqlo and Crocs. Even with these two companies, I think I spend more money on their online store rather than in stores. 1. Unless at their "flagship" stores, the smaller stores (near my home) do not carry everything. 2. They run some good online-...

Re: To the male expats here, what has been your experience dating the local girls?

I have plenty of friends here, local and expat, who avoid Singaporean girls. For all the reasons already mentioned. Other Asian nationalities are generally fine, depending on the individuals concerned. Does "Singaporean girls" generally refer to SG Chinese gals or do other ethnic groups from SG beh...

OK ... I'm now a believer. Have been multiple news/reports of US CITIZENS who were "strong-armed" by CBP to unlock their phones for review and apparently this is legal ](*,) Also, talk of new policy to require non-citizens to provide their social media login information. WTF is this world coming to ...

Re: Blood PRessure rising 150/105

thanks guys. it's multiple readings. I added in a diuretic to help until I see my GP and I plan to buy a stronger med at the airport tomorrow (a calcium blocker). It should vary ... morning vs. evening and depending on when you take the med, physical activities, how relaxed you are, etc. Mine can s...

Re: PERTH first timer

Hellooo eagles! will be travelling to Perth next week, impromptu trip. any advice and recommendations for a solo traveller? I've driven down to Margaret River from Perth before, alone. It's where they filmed the original "Point Break" big wave as well as nice wine region. It was a good drive (despi...

... My question was a serious one and I thank the FMs who responded accordingly. However, you always get one who wants to be ignorant, hidden behind the anonymity of a forum name. Probably nothing to do and no social life. believe it or not, my original reply, rude or not, was actually meant to hel...

Re: Airbnb finished in Singapore for now???

This tends to turn a residential building into a hotel. I can see why they would do that. I don't have any experience in SG but my Bangkok condo used to be overrun with short-term renters. They are menace to long-term residents (too many people in small rooms, noises all hours/days, trash thrown in...

There have been reports coming out of the USA that USICS are requesting travellers to reveal their social media accounts and content. I don't know the exact circumstances but I assume it is in a secondary examination context related to the POTUS recent immigration order. Where are these reports? I ...

Re: From Expat Contract to Local ++ Contract ?

Also 25 days of paid leave is highly abnormal for any local contract - locals get 7 to 14 days only. In other words, appreciate it if it's offered. I work for US based MNC in Singapore on a local contract and get 25 days (or more - can't remember). We're fairly global on paid leave (based on level ...

Re: Hiring/package trends for Expat IT Executives - MNC/Local

I would think that Singapore then becomes an individual market rather than a hub for IT services and infrastructure. I don't see too many Singaporeans in IT (not at my company - USA MNC). Most that I thought were Singaporeans turned out to Malaysian imports. Strong Indian presence in mid-management...
