Re: Report a safety issue with condo

Try the BCA and SCDF. Both of those have powers of enforcement for these issues. Note that I would focus on the elevator issue with BCA and the lighting issue with SCDF. 10:1 your MC has been delaying required repairs and replacement of the elevator winch / rope etc. Thanks, I'll try SCDF. The buil...

Re: Report a safety issue with condo

I just asked them to turn the light on 24/7 for the few days it will take to fix the lift. They refused. I can't imagine they'd instead spend the money to properly fix the the sensor.

They have this. The sensor is aimed down, so it only triggers if you're walking up the stairs. And even then, the range is border-line useless.

Report a safety issue with condo

Hey So my building is constantly having issues, amongst which the single lift for my half of the building constantly breaks down. During this time, the only option is a single stairwell. This stairwell is pitch black by day, and timer by light. I've raised this to the management company, but they st...

Re: Talk me out of this

I have nothing valuable to say except that that town sure looks pretty, at least from some of the photos in the first two links.

Interesting... so AT&T and T-Mobile support if willing to purchase grey market.

Yep! And it works great. I got LTE with AT&T, and am getting LTE with Singtel right now while roaming on an AT&T SIM.

Re: Google Pixel

If you see it in the Phillipines, it is just a hand carried from the US model. I don't think so... the phone is being released in the USA only under Verizon... which is CDMA, not GSM. GSM/CDMA distinctions don't really apple to 4G. Verizon phones (iPhones and others) almost all work globally. It's ...

Re: xiaomi notebook air

I have one of these, purchased at a Xiaomi store in China. I love it, the price was great. There are extra PCI-E slots to expand it. It is definitely a Apple rip off, but it is NOT half the power. The 12" is same cpu/gpu specs as the "Macbook" (not Air), but half the RAM, while much b...

Re: Well my fellow tards; I'm being moved to Thailand - Bkk

Sorry to see you going PNGMK. Hope we can have another drink either here or in BKK one day. Agree on the Thai language. Almost as painful to me as Vietnamese, which I affectionately describe as "Sounds like Cantonese, if you try to speak it while your head is submerged in a toilet" Btw, lo...

Re: Uber or Grab?

I find Uber much slower to arrive, their app (since the "upgrade") is buggier, and often their drivers seem to know the rides less than their grab equivalents. Part of the reason they're slower to arrive seems to be their algorithm to assign you a driver who is completing a trip nearby. I ...

Re: visa runs Indonesia - singapore subject to increased scrutiny

I would note however, that Thailand is a bit different. My dear wife was working a contract for our company and had been going in and out. She flew up again one Sunday evening and shortly thereafter we received a call... they had checked her passport and determined she had already been in Thailand ...

Re: Suggested monthly income for family of 4

Don't assume you'll get your kids into a local school, so be sure to budget for an international school. Acceptance rates for foreigners seems to hover around 50-60% with little rhyme or reason as to 'why'.

Re: Best Airline for Miles

Plus, Singapore Air almost never ever ever upgrades you based on status/over-sold. And i only say "almost" because I've only heard of one person ever claiming this happened to them. They generally say they will *not* free upgrade for any reason.
