Re: RE: Short term visit pass limit

So far in ASEAN countries, every time as soon as I say film producer / film production manager, people just wave me past. Some get curious and ask which film I did last, but that's as far as it goes. May help that I am not pretty , and am grossly overweight  Well, Singapore, though being part ...

Re: RE: Short term visit pass limit

: what's the maximum "unofficial" limit that one can stay in Singapore on a Social visit pass accumulatively? I remember it used to be 60 days (or was it 90?) for 180 days? . There is no such limit. A social visa is for "up to" 30 days, with a possible extension of another 30 days or another additi...

Short term visit pass limit

Well, after a few years of moving out of Singapore, I am now confronted with this question again. Mostly because I have not been keeping track and I have searched quite a bit on the forum but can't seem to find it. Anyway, here goes: what's the maximum "unofficial" limit that one can stay in Singapo...

Re: Regarding common law spouse and DP and such

Hi taxico, thank you for the comment and the well wishes. We lived together because we decided to move in - we were keeping separate residences till that point. It wasn't out of convenience - if it were, we'd have stayed together right when we made the move here (we started dating way back in high s...

Re: Regarding common law spouse and DP and such

Ahhh the story of marriage in Asia. I won't go into details of how big and how complicated weddings are in Vietnam, but let just say in Hanoi (where I was born) it's even worse than it is in HCMC. Oh, but weddings in HCMC come with really loud techno music and karaoke that keep the neighbours up unt...

Re: Regarding common law spouse and DP and such

Ah yes... Five years in Sg taught me well about how the government see 'alternative' lifestyles. He only has one year left on his bond, and then we can probably move elsewhere. People are not exactly forgiving of alternative lifestyle here in Vietnam either, one must throw a gigantic pointless weddi...

Regarding common law spouse and DP and such

Hi folks, I'm currently in Vietnam and have been for about two years after Singapore rejected several of my pass applications for heavens know why. My partner of 7 years is stuck in Singapore paying his NUS student bond. We're looking at a promotion that will give him over 4k a month. We're thinking...

I am surprised O_O Especially if it was "Thị", that is the most common middle name ever, I know, it's also my wife's middle name. :) When I first told her lots of 'viet kieu' there used it, she had pretty much the same reaction. Of course, it was nothing compared to when I told her how the average ...

.... Yeah, you'd be surprised (or not) at how many girls in California go by 'Thi' ;) I am surprised O_O Especially if it was "Thị", that is the most common middle name ever, the middle name people put there just to identify the human as a female :P My name is actually a whole thing "Thuy Chi". My ...

Yep, thanks for the gallon of water. It was a nice shower. Helped me put my life in perspective too. Helped me remember how the industry functions sometimes - the studios I was with has a very different culture from where you're coming from. Thanks for the follow up comment too. *Off to annoy more p...

@urbanjungle: Hi, I don't wish to start a flame war here, but I do like to point out that, yes, I did 'upgrade' myself to a degree in Film making, and I do believe that I am not THAT bad as you say. I accept critiques quite well, but I do have a preference of constructive comments over a gallon of c...

I used to work in a small boutique post-production house that did film editing. We had a few locations in US and Europe. In this shop (and numerous like it), everyone pretty much started at the *very* bottom as runners. Basically cleaning studios, picking up and serving lunch, etc. to the clients. ...

@SE: Oh, I see it now... I got what you mean. I hope I can get a job as a video editor, and hopefully learn the ropes to have my own production one day. As you can see under the video section, all of those was scripted, shot and edited by me. The rest (photography, 3D, motion graphics) are mostly re...

@SE: I bring a DVD with my portfolio to every interview. And for every single interview I have gone to, the interviewers spent a good 10 mins to half an hour looking at my work. I get complimented. And then I get "we'll contact you later" (and never heard from them ever again). That is how my interv...

I did freelance photography in weddings. And my motion graphic, the news thingy, was bought by a Vietnamese TV channel. That was about all my experience.

Maybe I really should pack my bag and try the rendering farm in Vietnam... Again.
