You would learn far more while you work than what you learn from the coursework. Plenty of opportunities in India currently and as someone previously said, the work here isn't cutting edge for both embedded hardware/software. I have worked in India ->did masters from NUS ->currently working here. Al...

OP, Little bit of advice from a well-wisher: Attitude matters a lot, dude. Aptitude might take you places but attitude helps you stay there Reg your query, as mentioned in some earlier posts, the process: Ace an interview (Either F2F or skype/other VoIP), get your employer to apply for your EP and h...

Did this single line do the trick for the OP...relatively... since he didn't get the dreaded "You are welcome to stay in your relevant EP......" ? Seems like ethnicity is the BIGGEST factor for success of PR application of late.

The plots and sub-plots keeps going on and on.. but the info regarding the employer was never leaked out .. by both the OP and 'the lynx'. BTW, just curious, does the MNC begin with I and end with a L with a NTE thrown in between :P To the OP: You could probably target Micron/Global Foundries/ST Mic...

Thanks for the replies, guys!
FRANK does look funky :)

@Splatted : $500 shouldn't matter considering the aim is to save. But just that naggy little feeling, you know. Point taken though.

I will try to be as genuine and as unbiased as possible , which is a difficult proposition considering the tinge of negativity surrounding my country unluckily  . These might serve a advice/warning for people willing to travel to India *If you are a westerner, the mere sight of you is likely to...

I'm confused by your post. Don't take offense, but your grammar and formatting is so poor as to cause this confusion. I'm not sure if you're asking questions or making statements. You also have two lists of two items each numbered 1 and 2. You should work on that. Anyway, you can apply for a PEP wi...

Er, well I consider a savings account an investment, and in SG usually not a very good one. But I can see a bit more clearly now that what you apparently want is simply a way to protect your money from yourself :)

Well the whole idea of putting money aside is to be done with discipline. I know you have your own approach but you put a fixed amount consistently, you will be less prone to spend more and you can save more.
Agreed. How badly I wish that I could be that disciplined. :P

I know what are you talking about. If you use POSB or DBS, you can create a MySavings account which automatically transfers in a fixed sum on fixed date on monthly basis from your primary account. Interest is not high but definitely higher than regular savings account. Or you can do a step-up time ...

May be I should have put forward the purpose of the SB account. Its purely intended for what it stands - savings. I just have one account and all income/expense are out of that account. Of late, I have been having trouble allocating a proportion of income towards savings. So the best, i thought, was...

.. but there are always better places to bring-up a family and Singapore is the least country recommendable to raise one. Ouuuch. That would hurt me if I were a Singaporean. As foreigners, we come here, work, enjoy the benefits, get a more-than-decent lifestyle, save(and perhaps remit back!). But a...
