CPF Withdrawal for Malaysian (Need Advice!)

Hi there, need some advice on CPF withdrawal. I am a Singapore PR from Malaysia who has been working here for 10+ years. However, I have decided to move to China with my Chinese girlfriend and pursue a career there. However, from my research, China PR or citizenship isn't easy to obtain and the best...

Re: Retiring in Singapore

Hi RobSg. I, too, appreciate your post. I really loved living in Singapore, and it took me 3 years of grief and depression to come to grips with living back in Houston, Texas. And yet, the wife and I went back to SG last year for our 40th. It was great fun to visit, and, as you said, once you've see...

Re: Retiring in Singapore

While I have not been here as long as SMS, I did call Singapore home for 25 years as a PR. I like to pop into this forum occasionally to see how life is going on there. Leaving Singapore and retiring in the States was very difficult, and it took a 3 years or so to adjust to stateside living. When I ...

Re: How can I continue to remain in Singapore to complete my O-Levels?

I'm going to put this text below not for you but others reading this. Based on extremely high level contacts I have I can assure all readers that Singapore is NOT trying to become a centre of education for primary or secondary students. They do not see this as a core business they want to invest in...

Re: Can I be exempted from NS?

I wouldn't count on it. The fact that they are not living in Singapore and he isn't schooling in Singapore I believe will not make any difference as while they technically haven't enjoyed the socio-economic benefits of being a PR, it WAS afforded to them for the whole period that they held the blue ...

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

We don't know the rules for Chinese ancestry but I think it's pretty much going to be proven via documented ancestry that can be traced back to either the mainland or significant diaspora population centres.

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

Obviously it's not enough that ICA will consider you Chinese as it appears you would have less than 25% chinese in your ancestry. In fact, You probably have as much spanish in your DNA as you do Chinese. Not counting the half caucasian you got from your mother/father. Pipe dreaming.

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

No, I don't think so. To most people, I look Mediterranean (Spanish, Italian, Greek) But to people who have had experience of what Eurasians look like I think I'm definitely Eurasian looking. But I do have Chinese in my DNA test.

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

Can you pass a Chinese race person? If so it might help although I believe ICA are almost at the point of demanding DNA to prove so now :(

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

Damn, well thank you for opening my eyes. Glad at least my petty misdemeanor wouldn't get in the way of it. As a Eurasian (Half white/Half Filipino/Chinese) with rather fluent Chinese would my chances be just as slim as any foreigner?

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

No. But the hurdles for PR and citizenship are extremely high for non Chinese or Malay races. You would do well to read threads on moving and getting a PR. Your chances are slim.

I doubt the old offences will be an issue. You're not required to disclose expunged offences.

Re: Finding work/living in Singapore with expunged misdemeanor

Say I get more experience and network and all that. Will they look at my application and see a expunged misdemeanor and immediately put it into the garbage? I need to know if this expat plan should just be tossed out and just be content in the states
