Hi,
I'm considering moving to Singapore within the next six months.
I eventually want to set up a new business in singapore but would first like to take my time six months or so to relocate family, travel and get to know
people.
If I understood right there is not really any visa pass for a my situation. So the question is; are there any other options for us to move than apply for the entrepass and start a business immediately?
If you want to travel Asia and get to know people, maybe you should come in on a visitor pass (30-90 days depending upon country of origin) this is 3 months, but you can also spend some time going though the paperwork and trying to get your entrepass?
Just a thought. Otherwise you are not able to do anything! _________________ nutnut
Unless you have a lot of money to invest, the answer is no.
Just thinking aloud .. what if he buys a shell company and hit it off ?
Does it speed up the process ?
If if he has enough money, as you say, maybe buy over a running concern ??
No can't do. Need to apply EP to be appointed as a working director unless he JV with a local then it is a possibility _________________ The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.Yahoo !!!

In Singapore it is so easy to set up a company, there is no need to have shelf companies.
But, he would need a Singapore resident as nominee director, and he would need to have the kind of business that would convince MOM that he could get around the Entrepass rules. _________________ .The Mankind Project - Changing the world one man at a time.
How about moving to Malaysia (LTVP or 'My Second Home') and exploring SG opportunities from there?
I doubt so. Though it may be easier to break through Malaysia, business-wise, I think it is harder from one to penetrate into Singapore from there than the other way round.
Just my 2 cents. _________________ scratched by the lynx

The OP wants to relo, and spend an initial 6 months 'traveling and getting to know people', as a precursor to starting a business in SG.
I think that would be a heck of a lot easier from MY, cheaper too! Presumably once he had his business plans all set up and ready to go, he could then look at moving from MY to SG.
Anywayz that was just my 2 cents to consider, as I think his initial proposition is going to be $ and difficult to pull off...
Thanks to everyone for their time and replies. I was worried that this is really the case that there are no other options.
To be honest I just wanted some holiday and family time before being sucked into work again. Otherwise I have all set for the entrepass.
Can I set up the company and start operating it really after awhile or are they very stricted with the performance the first year?
Thanks again.
