I'm not sure about the Canon EOS series - as you said, check the websites.

Cheers, Mr. P

Yup, Canon EOS allows shutter speed changing, it's a tricky business though.

Quite true because, the settings are getting complex, as there are too many parameters. The scene passes by the time we ensure that our camera is set right. We have to wait for the day, where we get USB / bluetooth cameras, that can be operated from a Mini-laptop and the settings are fired instantly.

We can then even program the sequence of pictures to be taken in various custom settings.

Oops... Google $14m contest in the corner..

This is excellent idea for people to meet up and shoot. I believe that photography can be a lot of fun with people. I just bought a Canon 450D before moving to Singapore, but haven't yet had the chance to use it. So if any outings are planned, do let me know. I can be reached at drastogi@gmail.com or 97761393.

Cheers.

Hi All,

Would love to join the next outing and/or meet-up with others who want to shoot, discuss, and improve their photography. Lately I have been playing with some night photography, but my interests are broad. I even thought of offering a “hands-on” class for beginners and intermediate photogs, but for now it would just be nice to hook-up with a few people who enjoy the hobby.

Feel free to PM or drop me a email if you would like to meet or setup a shoot.

Thanks!

You could also go alone and do some night shooting or hook up with a photo buddy during this month long event.

Nice! Here are a few of mine. Wish I could have found a better location. Shooting through the fence was a drag.

Not sure what turn number... but it was the one where the Ferrari overshot during the last practice on Saturday.. maybe #4 ?? I was using a 70-200mm f2.8, manually focused at apex of turn.. opened up to reduce DOF and try to hide fence. Could have been better... but I got to spot late and was fighting with shooting over people's heads and through fence posts.

Data on each shot is here: http://bigeasytx.zenfolio.com/p934808527

In Vietnam for a week, but would love to get together with others for some local shoots when I return.

Here are a few from a solo shoot I did the other night.

nice series you got there..good thing you didn't overexpose the merlion for its kinda tricky setting on the camera when you are taking that kind of shot. so your're a nikon user? how long have you been into photography?

Yea.. been shooting Nikon and Fuji for a few years... shot a bunch of film, on and off back in the 80's... but never got heavy into it, until digital evolved to a good quality about 3-4 years ago.

Funny you should say that... Merlion was not easy. I didn't have any filters, and as you say the Merlion was way hotter than background. I used my flat-black CF card holder to hand dodge the lion on a long shot.. covered the Merlion in viewfinder an took long exposure while only uncovering lion for a few sec. Took about 5 attempts... but I think it came out well?

Vietnam is a trip... love it! Should have a few good shots upon my return.

Cheers

I must say I am pretty impressed by the talent that you all have. Big Easy, I sent you a message...
Anyway, I am an amateur using Canon EOS 30D, I love the camera and taking shots, but I want to get "below the surface" and really learn to get the shots that I want. I have considered taking classes but the classroom idea isn't very appealing to me, and I just haven't made the time for it since I've been working full-time and have a family. With that said, I really love photography and would love to get together with a group of people who share in that enthusiasm.
PM if you get a chance. Look forward to hearing from someone...

Thanks bebe!

I have received a few other emails and inquires on this board and others. I was thinking of setting up an outing next week? Weekends are tuff for me right now as I'm trying to get as many trips under my belt as I can.., But was thinking maybe a weeknight thing?

When: Thursday Nov 20th - 5pm -9pm
Where: Marina Bay
Subject: Causal Meet-up and a night shoot.
Equipment: What ever you got.. but recommend a tripod. (I have a few I can bring)

So.. if anyone is interested, drop me a note at ( Big.Ezy@gmail.com ) for the details.

Looking at getting together about 5 or 6pm near the Marina.. we could meet-up at a coffee shop, BS about photography some.. and then shoot some night shots of the city. If you can't make it at 5pm, you can join us later, as I'm sure it will go on till 9pm'ish....

Ez

.
BTW- Here a a few from last week in Jakarta, Indonesia .... you can almost smell the first few. Was a pretty good trip, but I didn't get to shoot nearly as much as I wanted... I arrived on the day of the "Bali Bombers" execution so tensions were pretty high.

Anyway, here are a few... Still working on the Vietnam shots, which I found much more enjoyable.

Not at all. A DSLR will give you move flexibility and better images in the long run, but there is much you can learn about photography techniques and taking better pictures, regardless to the type of camera you own.

The groups "meetup" board is at :

http://digcam.meetup.com/224/

You should join and try to make a meeting.

Nothing planned right now... I'm heading back to Vietnam in about 2 weeks, and then over to Phnom Penh & Angkor Wat for Christmas. I'll post something if there happens to be a get-together next week... if not I'm guessing sometime in Jan.

Keep an eye on : http://digcam.meetup.com/224/
